Make an Australian passport photo, 35 x 45 mm and print ready
Doing this at home means getting two things right: the shape of the picture and the size of your face in it. Select a photo, keep the Size on 35 × 45 mm, and fit your face in the guide. It runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.

How to use Australian Passport Photo (35x45 mm)
Select a photo
Click Select a photo. Face the camera in front of a plain white or light grey wall, with even light. Use Rotate if the picture is sideways.
Set the size and fit your face
Check that Size says 35 × 45 mm. Drag the crop box until your face is inside the oval with your eyes level. Keep Background on As taken if the wall is already plain.
Make the photos
Click Make passport photos. Save the single JPG, then choose 4 × 6 in, A4 or US Letter under Sheet as and save the print sheet as a JPG or PDF.
Right shape, then check the face size
The crop box here is locked to the 35 × 45 mm shape and shows an oval and a centre line, so your head ends up centred with space above it. That handles the shape of the picture. The size of the face inside it depends on how close you stood.
The face should measure 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown. The tool does not measure it, so check the printed photo with a ruler. If the face looks too small, take a closer photo and crop again; if it looks too large, step back a little.
PlumPDF sizes and crops the photo, but it does not judge whether it meets every official rule. Rules change and differ by application, so check the official guidance for your application before you print or submit. Everything runs in your browser, and your photo is never uploaded.
Questions about Australian Passport Photo (35x45 mm)
What size is the photo?
It is 35 × 45 mm, saved at 300 DPI. Print the sheet at 100% or "actual size", because "fit to page" shrinks or stretches the photo.
How big should my face be?
The face should measure 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown. The oval is only a guide for placing your face, and the tool does not measure it. After printing, hold a ruler to the photo and check the face size.
What background should I use?
A plain white or light grey background. Choose White under Background if your wall was not plain, or keep As taken if it was already plain and light. There is no grey option, so keep As taken for a grey wall.
Can I print on photo paper at home?
Yes. Pick 4 × 6 in for photo paper, or A4 or US Letter for ordinary sheets. The sheet has cutting lines, so you can trim each copy. A good printer and photo paper make the print clearer.
Does PlumPDF check that my photo meets the official rules?
No. PlumPDF sizes and crops the photo, but it does not judge whether it meets every official rule. Check the background, face size, expression and print quality yourself. Rules change and differ by application, so check the official guidance for your application before printing or submitting.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is cropped and the sheet is made inside your browser tab, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. Closing the tab discards everything.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, after your first visit. The page and its tools are kept by your browser, so you can use it on a slow or dropped connection. Nothing is sent anywhere either way.
