Compress an image to 300KB, with very little visible loss

A 300KB limit is generous enough for a scanned certificate or a photographed document to stay sharp. This tool finds the highest JPG quality that stays under 300KB, so most images change very little. It works in your browser and your files stay on your device.

How to use Compress Image to 300KB

  1. Add your photos

Click Select images or drop JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC or other image files on the page. Up to 50 at once.

  2. Check the target size

The target is already set. Change it if your form asks for a different limit, then press Compress.

  3. Preview and download

Check each result's size and quality, then download the files one by one or as a zip.

A roomy limit for scans and document photos

Three hundred kilobytes is the point where many scans stop needing compromises. The tool tries JPEG qualities and keeps the highest one under the limit, so a modest scan can come out nearly unchanged.

Large phone photos, which often run to several megabytes, are where the work happens. If quality alone cannot reach 300KB, the pixel dimensions are reduced step by step. Each file shows its final size, pixel size and quality, and you can preview it before downloading.

The tool aims below 300 times 1,000 bytes, so the file passes whichever way a form counts a KB. If you need to combine several pages afterwards, the results can go into Image to PDF.

Questions about Compress Image to 300KB

Will I see any loss at 300KB?

For most phone photos and scans, very little. Three hundred kilobytes leaves plenty of data for a normal screen-size picture, so the tool often keeps a high quality and only trims pixels from a very large image. The result shows the quality and pixel size it used.

Should I use this for a scanned certificate?

Yes, if the scan is an image file. At 300KB printed text normally stays readable. If a scan is very large in pixels, the tool reduces them in steps, so check the preview for small stamps and signatures before you submit.

The tool always gives a JPG. What about my PNG?

The output is always a JPG, since that is what most forms accept. PNG files are converted and transparent areas become white. A PNG with large flat colour areas may be bigger than the same picture as a JPG, so the conversion often helps with the limit.

Why is my result smaller than 300KB?

The tool aims for the best quality under the limit, not exactly the limit. A simple scan reaches the top quality setting before it fills 300KB. If your form also needs a minimum, use the minimum size option.

Does the compressed photo keep its location data?

No. Metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date is not copied into the new file. That also saves a little space, and it means you are not sharing where a photo was taken with an application portal.

Can I convert many files together?

Yes, up to 50 images of up to 50 MB each. Each one is compressed to 300KB on its own, and you can download them singly or as a zip.
