Crop a PDF, trim the margins away

This tool trims the edges of PDF pages: wide white margins, printer marks, a scanner's grey border. Type how much to cut from each side, or let PlumPDF measure the white space around the content, check the shaded preview, and crop. It runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.

How cropping a PDF works

Every PDF page has a crop box, the part of the page that readers show and printers print. PlumPDF makes that box smaller by the margins you choose, measured on the page as you see it, so "top" means the top even on a page saved turned sideways.

Trim white margins draws the page in your browser, looks for the first and last pixels that are not white in each direction, and turns that into millimetres. It measures one page: the first one in Pages, or page 1.

Because the crop box only hides what is outside it, cropping is reversible and lossless: text stays selectable and images keep their quality.

Questions about Crop PDF

How do I crop a PDF?

Add the PDF above and type how many millimetres to cut from the top, bottom, left and right. The preview shades what will be cut off. Press Crop PDF and download the result.

Can it remove the white margins automatically?

Yes. Press Trim white margins: PlumPDF draws the preview page, finds where its content starts and ends, and fills in the margins with 2 mm to spare. Check the preview, because a page number or a faint line counts as content.

Can I crop only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages in Pages, for example 1 or 3-5, and only those are cropped. The others keep their size.

Is the cut-off part deleted?

No. Cropping sets the visible area of the page, the way PDF readers and printers expect, so the text and pictures outside it are hidden, not removed. They come back if someone resets the crop. Do not rely on cropping to hide anything private.

Will the file get smaller?

Hardly. Since nothing is deleted, the file stays about the same size. To make it smaller, use Compress PDF.

Is it safe to crop a PDF online?

With PlumPDF the PDF is opened and changed inside your browser tab and never leaves your device.
