Read a QR code from any picture
This tool reads a QR code from a photo or screenshot and shows you the text inside, in your browser. Choose a picture or paste a screenshot, and it finds the code. Links can be opened after you check them, and Wi-Fi codes show the network name and password. Your picture is not uploaded.

How to use QR Code Scanner
Open the Read tab
Choose the Read a QR code tab, then press Select a picture of a QR code, or paste a screenshot.
Let it look
The tool finds the code in your JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC picture and shows what it holds.
Copy or open
Press Copy for the text, Open link for a web address, or Copy password for a Wi-Fi code. Press Read another for the next picture.
How the code is found
Your picture is opened in the browser and searched for a QR code. Where your browser has its own code detector, the tool uses it; otherwise a built-in decoder does the same job. Either way it all happens on your device, and the picture is never sent anywhere.
The result is shown as plain text, so you see exactly what the code holds before you do anything with it. A web address gets an Open link button and a reminder to check where it leads. A Wi-Fi code is split into its network name and password, so you can copy the password without typing it out.
Reading works best on a clear, flat, well lit picture with the whole code and a little empty space around it. HEIC photos from a phone are converted for reading automatically. When you are done, press Read another, and closing the tab discards the picture.
Questions about QR Code Scanner
Can I read a QR code from a screenshot?
Yes. Take the screenshot, then choose the file or paste it straight onto the page. It works with JPG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC pictures, so photos from a phone are fine too. Make sure the whole code is in the picture.
Can it show a Wi-Fi password from a QR code?
Yes. If the code is a Wi-Fi login, the tool shows the network name and the password, and a Copy password button. Only use this on codes for networks you are allowed to join.
Is it safe to open a link from a QR code?
Be careful. A QR code can point anywhere, and you cannot tell by looking at it. The tool shows the address first and reminds you to check it before you press Open link. If the address looks odd, or the code came from a stranger, leave it.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The picture is read inside your browser tab and nothing is uploaded or stored. It uses the detector built into your browser where there is one, and a built-in decoder otherwise. You can check by going offline after the page loads.
What if it cannot find a QR code?
Try a sharper picture, taken closer and straight on, with the whole code in view and its white border showing. Glare, blur, a heavy crop or a very small code can all stop it being read. A screenshot is usually cleaner than a photo of a screen.
What if there are several codes in one picture?
The tool reads one QR code per picture. If your picture has several, crop it so only the code you want is left, or take a separate picture of each. It does not use the camera live, so it only works on pictures you give it.
