Edit a PDF right on the page
This editor changes a PDF in your browser: click any line of text to rewrite it, or add text boxes, pictures, your signature, shapes, drawings, highlights and comments. You can also turn, reorder, delete and insert pages. The file never leaves your device, and you download a new copy when you are done.

Press Save PDF, give the file a name if you like, and download it. Your original file is not changed.
How editing the text works
A PDF does not store paragraphs. It stores instructions such as "draw these letters, in this font, at this spot". When you click a line, the editor finds the instructions that draw it. When you save, it takes those out of the page and writes your text where the old text started, at the same size, colour and angle, so the rest of the page does not move.
Fonts are the tricky part. Most PDFs embed only the letters they use. If your new text needs a letter the original font lacks, the editor says so and uses the nearest standard font, matching serif or sans serif and bold or italic. Text in a script no standard font covers is added as a sharp picture of the text.
Some text cannot be taken out: text inside a drawing group, for example. Then the old line is covered with white and the new one written on top, and the save screen tells you how many lines that happened to.
Questions about Edit PDF
How do I edit the text in a PDF?
Open the PDF above, choose Edit text and click the words you want to change. Type the new text, then click outside or press Esc. When you save, the old words are taken out of the page and the new ones are written in the same place, size and colour, in the document’s own font whenever that font has every letter you typed.
Will the edited text match the rest of the document?
Usually, yes. Many PDFs carry only the letters they use, so a new letter may be missing from the original font. When that happens the editor tells you before you save and uses the closest standard font instead: serif, sans serif or monospace, bold or italic to match.
Does the text reflow when I type more?
No. PDFs store each line on its own, so a longer line does not push words on to the next line or column. Lines stay where they are, and any line you add goes under the last one. For bigger rewrites, PDF to Word gives you an editable document.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Not its words directly: a scan is a picture of a page, with no text to change. Run it through OCR PDF first to recognise the text. You can still add text, a signature, white-out and comments to a scan here.
Are highlights and comments real PDF annotations?
Yes. Highlights, underlines, strike-throughs and sticky-note comments are saved as standard annotations, so other PDF readers list them and can show, hide or reply to them. Text, pictures, signatures, shapes and drawings you add become part of the page.
Does white-out remove the text underneath?
No. White-out covers part of a page with white, so the text under it is hidden but still in the file and can be copied. To really remove words, use Edit text: the text you delete there is taken out of the page.
Is it safe to edit a PDF online here?
The PDF is opened and changed in your browser tab, on your device. It is never uploaded, and PlumPDF does not store it. Close the tab and it is gone.
