What you get from PDF to JPG
Each page is drawn onto a white canvas and saved as a JPEG at quality 92. The size of the image depends on the page size and the quality you choose: an A4 page is about 1240 by 1754 pixels at Standard, and 2480 by 3508 at High. Anything that would exceed 5000 pixels on its long side is scaled down to fit.
The result is a picture of the page. Text is no longer selectable and links no longer work. Fonts, images and vector graphics are drawn as they would appear in a normal PDF viewer.
JPG is the right choice for pages with photos, and for keeping files small. For pages with sharp text, diagrams or screenshots, PNG is usually crisper at the same size; use PDF to PNG for those.
Pages can be of different sizes, and each image follows its own page.
Questions about PDF to JPG
How do I convert a PDF to JPG for free?
Add the PDF to the box above, pick a quality and press Convert. Each page becomes one JPG file. It costs nothing, needs no account, and the PDF stays on your device.
How do I get a sharper or smaller image?
Use the quality setting. Standard renders at 150 DPI, which suits screens and most sharing. High renders at 300 DPI, good for printing or zooming in, with bigger files. Small renders at 72 DPI for thumbnails. The longest side is capped at 5000 pixels whatever you choose.
Why is the background white?
JPG cannot store transparency, so pages are drawn on white paper first. If the PDF has transparent areas and you need to keep them, use PDF to PNG instead.
Can I convert several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs of up to 100 MB each; they are converted one after another, and every page becomes its own image. A "Download all (.zip)" button saves everything in one go, or you can download single pages. If one PDF cannot be read, it is listed and the others still convert.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. PlumPDF asks for the password to be removed first. If you know it, Unlock PDF saves an unlocked copy in your browser; convert that copy instead.
Is it safe to convert PDF to JPG online?
With PlumPDF, yes: your PDF is never uploaded. The pages are drawn locally, inside your browser tab. Nothing is stored, and closing the tab discards the results.
Is there a page limit?
Yes, 200 pages per PDF. A progress counter shows which page is being drawn and a Cancel button stops the job. Longer documents can be split first with Split PDF.
