Getting under email and form limits

Phone scans and exported documents easily reach several megabytes, which is more than many forms and mail systems accept. Most of that weight is image data, and that is what this tool shrinks.

It tries image resolution from 200 DPI down to 72 DPI and JPEG quality from 85 down to 40, in steps, and stops at the first result under 1MB. A PDF only slightly over the limit keeps nearly all its quality.

Text, fonts, vector drawings, links and form fields are unchanged, so text stays sharp. Everything is done in your browser, and the result can be downloaded alone or in a zip.

Questions about Compress PDF to 1MB

How much quality will I lose at 1MB?

Often very little. Many PDFs only need a light trim to reach 1MB, and the tool stops at the first settings that fit. Only heavy scans get pushed toward lower resolution.

Does 1MB mean 1,000 KB here?

Yes, the target is 1,000 KB, and the tool aims under 1,000,000 bytes. A file under that is also under 1,024,000 bytes, so it passes either way of counting.

How does the tool get a PDF under the target?

It recompresses the photos and scans inside the file, trying stronger settings step by step. Image resolution goes from 200 DPI down to 72 DPI and JPEG quality from 85 down to 40. It stops at the first result under the target, so you keep the best quality that fits.

My PDF is mostly text and still too big. Why?

Fonts and drawings are left untouched, so they cannot be reduced. If a file does not reach 1MB, the tool offers the smallest version it could make. Splitting it with Split PDF, or the "Allow greyscale" option, can help further.

Can I compress several PDFs at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs of up to 100 MB each. Every file is compressed to the same target on its own, and you can download them one at a time or as a zip made in your browser.

Will it work on a slow connection?

Yes. Nothing is sent over the internet, so the speed of your connection does not matter once the page has loaded. After your first visit it also works offline.
