Precise crops, by hand or by numbers

The preview shows your image scaled to fit the screen, but every number in the crop panel refers to the real pixels of the original. Dragging the box, nudging it with the keyboard or typing a width all change the same rectangle, so you can rough it out with the mouse and finish with exact values.

Aspect ratios lock the shape of the box. 1:1 suits profile pictures, 4:3 and 3:2 match most camera photos, and 16:9 fits video thumbnails and slides. Each can be turned to portrait with one click.

Phone photos are turned upright before cropping, using their EXIF rotation tag, so what you see is what you get. The crop keeps the full resolution of the area you select, and the saved file carries no metadata. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions about Crop Image

How do I crop an image to a square?

Choose 1:1 under Aspect ratio. The box becomes the largest square that fits, centred, and keeps that shape as you drag it or its handles.

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Type the left (X) and top (Y) position and the width and height in pixels. The numbers always describe the original image, not the smaller preview on screen.

Can I use the keyboard instead of a mouse?

Yes. Tab to the crop box and move it with the arrow keys, one pixel at a time or ten with Shift. Tab on to a handle and the arrow keys resize from that edge or corner.

Is the cropped image lower in quality?

PNG crops are lossless. JPG, WEBP and AVIF are saved again at the quality you choose, 90 by default, which is very hard to tell from the original. The kept area keeps its full resolution.

Can I crop several images at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 images and draw the crop on one of them: it is applied to every image at the same place relative to its size, so a box over the left half takes the left half of each. With an aspect ratio such as 1:1, every result has that shape. Step through the images to check them before you crop. To cut many images to one exact pixel size, use Resize image with a preset and "Fill the size exactly".

Is it safe to convert and crop images online?

With PlumPDF the images never leave your device. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab discards everything. You can check by turning off your internet connection after the page loads and converting anyway.
