How to use Watermark PDF

  1. Add your PDFs

    Drop one or more PDFs on the box. The same watermark goes on all of them.

  2. Design the watermark

    Type the text or choose a picture, then set size, opacity, angle and position. The preview updates as you go.

  3. Add it and download

    Press Add watermark. Download each PDF, or all of them as a zip.

How the watermark is added

Text in the standard fonts is written into each page as real PDF text, in the colour and transparency you chose, so it stays sharp at any zoom and the file grows by only a few kilobytes. A logo is stored once in the file and reused on every page. Text in scripts the standard fonts lack is drawn by your browser and placed as a 300 DPI picture.

Positions follow the page as it is shown, so the watermark sits upright and in the right corner even on pages saved turned sideways. Tiled mode repeats it in a staggered grid across the whole page.

Nothing else changes: the existing text stays selectable, links and bookmarks keep working, and pages you leave out are untouched. A watermark is a visible label, not protection; pair it with Protect PDF when the file must stay private.

How do I add a watermark to a PDF for free?

Add the PDF above, type the watermark text or choose a logo, adjust it while watching the preview, and press Add watermark. It is free, with no account and no extra mark of our own on your file.

Can I put the watermark on only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages in the Pages box, such as 1 or 2-5, 8. Leave it empty to mark every page. With several PDFs, pages a shorter file does not have are skipped.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Choose Picture and pick a PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG file. A PNG or SVG with a transparent background looks best, because only the logo shows. Set its width as a share of the page and lower the opacity for a faint mark.

Does a watermark stop people copying my PDF?

No. A watermark is drawn into the page, which makes casual reuse awkward and shows where a copy came from, but someone determined can remove it with editing software. It is not a security feature. To keep people out of the file, also add a password with Protect PDF.

Can the watermark go behind the text?

Yes. Tick "Put it behind the page content" and the page is drawn over the watermark, so text stays easy to read. On scanned pages and pages with a filled background the page covers it completely, so leave the box unticked for those.

Does it work with Hindi, Arabic or Chinese text?

Yes. The built-in PDF fonts only cover Western European letters, so text in other scripts is drawn by your browser with a font from your device and placed as a sharp 300 DPI picture.

Is it safe to watermark a PDF online?

With PlumPDF the PDF is opened and changed inside your browser tab and never sent anywhere. Closing the tab discards everything.
