Edit or remove a PDF’s properties
Every PDF carries properties besides its pages: a title, an author, the program that made it, when it was created. Search engines and document systems show the title, and the author is often a full name. This tool shows them, lets you change them, or removes them all, in your browser.

How to use Edit PDF Metadata
Add a PDF
Drop a PDF on the box. Its current properties fill the form, with its dates and page count.
Change or clear
Edit any field, clear one to remove it, or tick Remove all properties and dates.
Save and download
Press Save properties and download the new file. The pages are not changed.
Where a PDF keeps its properties
A PDF's properties live in a small Info dictionary at the end of the file, and often also in an XMP metadata stream. PlumPDF writes your values into the Info dictionary and removes the XMP stream, so the two cannot disagree.
The file is then written out afresh, keeping only what it still uses. Old values are not left behind inside it, as they can be when a program saves only its changes on top of the previous version.
Pages, text, images, links, bookmarks and form fields are copied as they are. Only the properties change, so the file looks and prints exactly as it did, and its size stays about the same.
Questions about Edit PDF Metadata
How do I remove the author name from a PDF?
Add the PDF above, clear the Author field and press Save properties. To strip every property and both dates at once, tick Remove all properties and dates. For a fuller check, including comments, earlier versions and attachments, use PDF Privacy Check.
Why does the title matter?
PDF readers show the title in the window bar instead of the file name, and search engines often use it as the headline of a PDF in their results. A missing or leftover title, such as "draft3.docx" or "Untitled", looks careless.
What is the XMP copy?
Many PDFs keep a second copy of their properties in a format called XMP, which some readers prefer and which can hold more, such as an editing history. When you save, PlumPDF removes the XMP copy, so every reader shows the properties you typed.
Can I change the properties of several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs. What you type is written to every file, and fields you leave empty keep each file's own value. With one PDF, the form starts with its current values and an empty field removes that property.
Can I change the creation date?
Not to a date of your choice. Saving sets the "last changed" date to now; Remove all properties and dates removes both.
Is it safe to edit PDF metadata online?
With PlumPDF the file is read and rewritten in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for a tool whose purpose is often to remove personal details.
