Compress a PDF to 200KB, and keep the text sharp
Forms and mail systems often turn away a PDF that is a few hundred KB over. This tool recompresses the pictures inside your PDF until it is under 200KB, using the gentlest settings that work. Your files are processed in your browser and not uploaded.

Stepping down only as far as needed
A fixed "strong compression" setting often wrecks a PDF that only needed a small trim. This tool works the other way round. It starts with gentle settings and gets stronger step by step, from 200 DPI to 72 DPI and from JPEG quality 85 to 40, and stops at the first result under 200KB.
So a PDF that is a little over the limit keeps most of its picture quality, while a heavy scan is pushed further. Text, fonts, vector drawings, links and form fields are never changed, so the words stay crisp and clickable.
Everything happens in your browser. If a file will not reach 200KB, you are told, and given the smallest version the tool could make along with ideas such as splitting it or allowing greyscale.
Questions about Compress PDF to 200KB
How does the tool get a PDF under the target?
It recompresses the photos and scans inside the file, trying stronger settings step by step. Image resolution goes from 200 DPI down to 72 DPI and JPEG quality from 85 down to 40. It stops at the first result under the target, so you keep the best quality that fits.
How many pages fit in 200KB?
It depends on what is on them. Pages of plain text take very little room, so dozens can fit. Pages that are full-page scans take much more, so only a few may fit. The tool shows the final size so you can see where you ended up.
What if my PDF cannot get under 200KB?
A PDF that is mostly text, fonts or drawings has little image data to shrink, so it may stay above 200KB. The tool then says so and offers the smallest version it could make. Splitting the PDF into two files with Split PDF often works, and so does the "Allow greyscale" option, which turns photos grey.
Will the text in my PDF still be sharp?
Yes. Only the photos and scans inside the PDF are recompressed. Text, fonts, vector drawings, links and form fields are left untouched, so writing stays crisp and selectable while the pictures get lighter.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, after your first visit. The page and its tools are kept by your browser, so you can compress PDFs on a slow or dropped connection. Nothing is sent anywhere either way.
Can I compress a few PDFs together?
Yes, up to 50 PDFs of 100 MB each. Each file is brought under 200KB on its own. Download them one by one or as a zip.
