AVIF to PNG, nothing more lost
This tool converts AVIF images to PNG inside your browser. The PNG stores every decoded pixel without further loss and keeps transparency, which makes it a good format for editing.

From the newest format to the most compatible
AVIF files are small because the encoder throws away detail it judges you will not notice. PNG does the opposite: it keeps every pixel. Converting from AVIF to PNG freezes the image as it is, so further edits and saves do not lose anything more.
Your browser decodes the AVIF, since every current major browser can, and PlumPDF writes the pixels and the transparency to a PNG. HDR and wide-gamut images are mapped to standard sRGB on the way, because that is what the browser hands over. Animated AVIF files give their first frame.
PNG opens in practically every program, from image editors to word processors, which is the point of converting. The trade-off is size: expect the PNG to be many times larger than the AVIF. No metadata is copied.
Questions about AVIF to PNG
Is AVIF to PNG lossless?
The PNG stores exactly what your browser decodes from the AVIF, so nothing more is lost. Detail that AVIF compression removed when the file was made cannot come back.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. AVIF and PNG both support transparency, and the alpha channel is copied as decoded.
Why is the PNG so large?
AVIF is extremely compact and PNG is lossless. A 300 KB AVIF photo can become a PNG of several megabytes. For a smaller file that any program opens, try AVIF to JPG.
Can I convert several AVIF files to PNG at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 images, press Convert, and each one becomes its own PNG file. Download them one at a time, or press "Download all (.zip)" to get one zip file. The zip is made in your browser too.
Is it safe to convert AVIF to PNG online?
With PlumPDF the images never leave your device. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab discards everything. You can check by turning off your internet connection after the page loads and converting anyway.
