AVIF to JPG, opens everywhere
This tool converts AVIF images to JPG inside your browser. AVIF is a newer format that many programs still cannot open; JPG works everywhere. Your browser does the decoding, so nothing is uploaded.

How to use AVIF to JPG
Add AVIF files
Click Select AVIF images or drop them on the page. Up to 50 at once.
Check the quality
Quality 90 keeps the picture looking the same. Transparent areas become white unless you pick a colour.
Convert and download
Press Convert to JPG and save the files, or all of them as a zip.
AVIF support and what to expect
AVIF is based on the AV1 video codec and is one of the most efficient image formats in use. Websites and some phones and cameras save it to cut file sizes. Plenty of desktop software, office suites and online forms still cannot open it.
PlumPDF relies on your browser to decode AVIF, which every current major browser can do, then writes a JPG at the quality you choose. Transparent areas are filled with white or a colour you pick, because JPG has no transparency. Animated AVIF files give their first frame.
Two things change on the way. The file gets bigger, since JPG is less efficient. And HDR or wide-gamut pictures are brought into standard sRGB, because JPG cannot hold them. For a lossless copy with transparency, use AVIF to PNG instead.
Questions about AVIF to JPG
Which browsers can convert AVIF?
Any browser that can display AVIF: current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari 16.4 or later. If your browser cannot read a file, PlumPDF says so instead of producing a blank image.
Why is the JPG bigger than the AVIF?
AVIF compresses much more efficiently than JPG. The same picture as a JPG at good quality is often two to three times larger. That is a property of the formats.
Is HDR or wide colour kept?
No. JPG is an 8-bit format, and the browser maps the image to standard sRGB colour when it decodes it. HDR AVIF photos are converted to a normal dynamic range.
Can I convert several AVIF files to JPG at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 images, press Convert, and each one becomes its own JPG file. Download them one at a time, or press "Download all (.zip)" to get one zip file. The zip is made in your browser too.
Is it safe to convert AVIF to JPG online?
With PlumPDF the images never leave your device. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab discards everything. You can check by turning off your internet connection after the page loads and converting anyway.
