How to use Indian Passport Photo (35x45 mm)
Select a photo
Click Select a photo. A recent, front-facing photo works best. Use Rotate if the picture came out sideways from your phone.
Choose the size and a white background
Check that Size says 35 × 45 mm. Under Background, click White so the area behind you is replaced. Then drag the crop box until your face is inside the oval.
Make the photos
Click Make passport photos. Pick 4 × 6 in, A4 or US Letter paper under Sheet as, then save the sheet as a JPG or PDF to print.
White background, correct size, printed at 100%
The white background is the part that sends people to a studio. Here you can take the photo against whatever wall you have, choose White, and let an on-device model replace the area behind you. The model is downloaded once, the first time, and the photo stays on your device.
The crop box is fixed to the 35 × 45 mm shape and shows an oval and a centre line. Put your face inside the oval with your eyes level, and leave a little space above your head. A recent, front-facing photo in even light will give the best result.
PlumPDF sizes and crops the photo, but it does not judge whether it meets every official rule. Rules change and differ by application, so check the official guidance for your application before you print or submit. If a form needs a file with a size in KB, Photo and Signature Resizer for Forms can help with that next.
Questions about Indian Passport Photo (35x45 mm)
What is the size, in centimetres?
The photo is 35 × 45 mm, which is 3.5 × 4.5 cm, saved at 300 DPI. When you print, use 100% or "actual size" so the photo is not shrunk or enlarged.
How do I get a plain white background?
Choose White under Background. An on-device model finds you and replaces everything behind you. The first time, it downloads once (16 MB). A plain, evenly lit wall still gives the cleanest edges around hair.
How many copies fit on a sheet?
The number depends on the paper. The page tells you how many fit, with cutting lines, once you pick 4 × 6 in, A4 or US Letter under Sheet as. A 4 × 6 in print is handy for a local photo shop.
Can I add my name and date under the photo?
Yes. Turn on "Add name and date under the photo" to add a white strip at the bottom with your name and date. Only do this if your application asks for it, as many do not.
Does PlumPDF check that my photo meets the official rules?
No. PlumPDF sizes and crops the photo, but it does not judge whether it meets every official rule. Check the background, expression, head position and print quality yourself. Rules change and differ by application, so check the official guidance for your application before printing or submitting.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is cropped and the sheet is made inside your browser tab, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. Closing the tab discards everything.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, after your first visit. The page and its tools are kept by your browser, so you can use it on a slow or dropped connection. Nothing is sent anywhere either way.
