Open Resume Builder

Step by step

  1. Open Resume Builder. Go to the Resume Builder page on PlumPDF and type your name, phone, email and city at the top.
  2. Add education first. Press Add education for each course, with the college, the years and your marks. If you have no job yet, education goes above everything else.
  3. Add projects, internships and skills. Press Add a job for an internship or a part-time job, and describe projects the same way. Write each bullet point with a number where you can.
  4. Decide on a photo. Press Add a photo only if the employer asks for one. Many employers in India expect a photo, and many abroad prefer none.
  5. Check and download. Read it once for spelling, make sure it fits on one page, then press Download PDF.

What should a fresher put first?

You have little work history, so lead with what you do have. A good order for most students is:

  • Name and contact details: phone, email and city. Use an email address that looks serious.
  • Education: your degree, college, years and marks, with the most recent first.
  • Projects: two or three that show real work, with what you built and what it did.
  • Internships or part-time work, if you have any.
  • Skills: the tools and languages you can really use, not every word you have heard.
  • Achievements: prizes, certificates and clubs, kept short.

How do I write good bullet points?

Start each bullet with a verb such as built, led, wrote or fixed, and say what changed. A number makes it believable, so add one when it is true.

Weak: "Worked on a college website." Better: "Built a college event website used by 300 students, with a sign-up form and a schedule." Use only numbers you can explain in an interview, and leave the number out if you are not sure of it.

Should I add a photo?

It depends on where you apply. Many employers in India still expect a photo on a resume, and some forms ask for one. Many employers abroad prefer no photo, and some do not want one at all. If you are not sure, read the job post, or leave it out.

If you add one, use a plain background and a clear face. Resume Builder has an Add a photo button, and Photo and Signature Resizer for Forms can help if a portal wants a particular size.

Why one page, and why a PDF?

A person reading many resumes looks at each one for a short time. One page makes sure the best things are seen. For a first job, a second page is rarely needed.

Send a PDF, not a Word file. A PDF looks the same on every phone and computer, while a Word file can change its layout on another device. The PDF from Resume Builder has a real text layer, so job portals can read the words in it.

What does PlumPDF do for you?

Resume Builder takes care of the layout, so you can think about the words:

  • Add a job, Add education and Add a photo build the sections for you.
  • Download PDF gives you a clean file with text that can be selected and read.
  • Your details stay in your browser, so you can come back and change them next time.
  • Start a new resume clears the page when you want to begin again for a different job.
  • Nothing is uploaded.

Honest limits

The tool does not check your spelling or write the content for you. Read the whole resume again, aloud if you can, and ask a friend to look at it. Your details are saved only in this browser on this device, so download the PDF to keep a copy. If a portal wants a smaller file, use Compress PDF.

Questions

How long should a fresher resume be?

One page. If it runs over, cut the oldest or weakest points instead of making the text smaller.

Should I put a photo on my resume?

Check the employer. Many in India expect one, and many abroad prefer none. If the job post does not say, leaving it out is safe.

Can job portals read the PDF?

Yes. The PDF has a real text layer, so the words can be selected and read by job portals, not just seen as a picture.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?

No. It is built inside your browser tab. Your details stay in this browser for next time, and press Start a new resume to clear them.

Can I use the same resume for different jobs?

You can, but it works better to change the order of projects and skills to match each job. Your saved details make this quick.
