Video to MP3, keep just the sound
Take the sound out of a video and save it as an MP3: a song from a clip, a talk or a lecture, a voice note recorded as video. Choose the quality, convert, and download. It runs in your browser, so your video never leaves your device.

How to use Video to MP3
Choose your video
Press Select a video or audio file and pick an MP4, MOV, WEBM or other video. Audio files like M4A and WAV work too.
Pick the quality
Choose 128 kbps for a smaller file, 192 kbps for very good sound, or 320 kbps for the best.
Convert and download
Press Convert to MP3, then download the MP3. It plays on every phone, computer and music player.
How the sound becomes an MP3
The video file is read in pieces, so even a long video does not have to fit in memory at once. Only its sound track is decoded; the picture is skipped, which makes the conversion quick.
The sound is then encoded as an MP3 at the bitrate you choose, keeping its stereo and its original sample rate where MP3 allows it. The MP3 encoder comes with the page the first time you use it, because browsers have none of their own, and then works offline.
Everything happens on your device, inside your browser tab, so your video and its sound are never uploaded.
Questions about Video to MP3
How do I convert MP4 to MP3?
Choose the MP4, pick the sound quality and press Convert to MP3. The sound of the whole video is saved as an MP3 file you can download.
Which quality should I choose?
192 kbps sounds very good and suits most music and speech. 128 kbps makes a smaller file and is fine for talks and voice. 320 kbps is the best MP3 can do, for music you care about; it cannot add quality the video did not have.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The sound is taken out and made into an MP3 on your own device, inside your browser tab. Your video is never sent anywhere.
Can I convert other formats to MP3?
Yes. MOV, M4V, WEBM, MKV and 3GP videos work in most browsers, and so do audio files like M4A, WAV, OGG, AAC and FLAC.
Can I download sound from a YouTube link?
No. This tool works with video files on your own device. It does not download from websites, and videos on sites like YouTube belong to the people who made them.
What if my video has no sound?
The page tells you as soon as you choose it, because a video without a sound track has nothing to save as an MP3.
